Common Questions

Well & Pump Questions, Answered

Straight answers to what Palm Coast and Flagler County homeowners ask us most.

How deep does a water well need to be in Palm Coast?+

It depends on your lot and what the water is for. Shallow irrigation wells in the surficial sand can be a few dozen feet, while potable wells drawing from the Floridan aquifer commonly run 100 to 300 feet or more. Depth is a result of the geology under your property, not a number we can quote over the phone.

How long does it take to drill a new well?+

Most residential wells in Flagler County are drilled and cased within a day or two once we're on site, with pump and pressure-tank hookup following shortly after. Deeper or higher-demand wells and difficult formations can take longer.

Do I need a permit to drill a well in Flagler County?+

Yes. Water wells in this area are permitted through the St. Johns River Water Management District, and licensed contractors are required to pull the permit and file the completion report. We handle that paperwork as part of the job.

What's the difference between an irrigation well and a drinking-water well?+

An irrigation well only needs enough flow to run your sprinkler zones and can tolerate iron or sulfur. A potable well has to deliver clean, safe water, so it's built deeper with proper casing, grouting, and setbacks from septic systems. They are not the same well and aren't built to the same standard.

My water smells like rotten eggs or stains fixtures — can you fix it?+

Usually, yes. Sulfur smell and rust or blue-green staining are common in this area and are almost always a water-quality issue we can treat with the right filtration or treatment system rather than a problem with the well itself. We'll test and recommend the right fix.

How do I know if I need a new pump or a whole new well?+

Low pressure, air spitting from the taps, or a pump that runs constantly is often a pump, pressure-tank, or wiring problem — a repair, not a replacement. We diagnose the actual cause before recommending anything, and we'll tell you straight when a well has genuinely reached the end of its life.
